Wednesday
Torino, Italia
We we arrived yesterday and checked into our apartment. We have a small studio apartment not far from Piazza Carlo Emanuele II. It is very near the corner of Via Principe Amedeo and Via Accademia Albertina. It is run by Varental. It appears they have rentals throughout the city and even in other cities.
The apartment is “small” but functional. The kitchen is nice and the basic utensils are here. There is only one tea towel, and no “significant” condiments. There are a couple sugar packets, 100 grams of coffee and not much else. Normally we would have either more tea towels or at least some paper towels. Salt, pepper and usually a little oil is included. Not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination, just a point.
There is a PAM market just two blocks away. We didn’t pull out our “supply” bag from Serra’s so a few things we would normally have, like a frother of the morning cappuccino, are missing but we are only here for three nights. We did pick up some napkins and Kleenex.
There is a nice little café on the corner called Officina del Caffè Torino which has good cappuccino and a fresh brioche for the morning. As noted in yesterday’s blog we slept nearly 12 hours. It may be too much for us to try to do it all in one day.
After our morning cappuccino, Mary went to Serra’s to help while I stayed in the apartment and organized the suitcases we are leaving here when we go of Tanzania. That task was accomplished, although I have to admit I spent most of the day in bed asleep. I went over to Serra’s about 5 and we stayed any played with the girls and had a dinner of chicken and sweet potatoes.
About 8 we walked back to the apartment and called it a night. Both of us still very tired. More evidence we are continuing to get old, and we can’t try to do it all in one day.
Buonanotte e Ciao, Enrico e Maria
