Cruising the Bay of Bengal
A day of rest. We are on our way to the Maldives. Unfortunately, all the excursions in the Maldives have to do with being on the beach. Male, the capital, where the ship will be anchored is a small inland completely filled with buildings. You can walk around there but it will be Ramadan and from what we hear everything will be closed. So, maybe a day or two or three of rest before we hit India.
But today is going to be a take it easy day. At 11 we have the speaker series “The India Trilogy” with Terry Bishop. He is always a good speaker. The first in this trilogy was interesting but didn’t add much to our existing knowledge. A good refresher however.
At noon there is an American BBQ for lunch on the pool deck. Then at 15:00 there is Brian Unger with “The Mahatma & The Making of a Nation”. That should also be interesting.
Terry’s lecture was interesting but again didn’t really add much to our existing data base. Perhaps some fine points on the details or a refresher again. Brian’s lecture was more interesting, but having watched the 1982 movie Gandi, all three plus hours of it, several times, there wasn’t much added here either. Although we did learn that Mahatma isn’t his first name by a title meaning blessed one.
We did go to afternoon tea after Brian’s lecture. It was supposed to be Eclairs & Profiteroles. Who will fill an éclair with peanuts butter? They were all very strange looking. That’s ok, it saves us the calories.
A lite dinner at Setta Mari and off to bed. Like I said a relaxing day.
Buonanotte e Ciao, Enrico e Maria.
