Sunday, somewhere in the North Pacific
Heading in the general direction of Hawaii.
The weather has definitely gotten better. Clear or nearly clear sky. The winds have definitely decreased, although I did read on the TV screen this morning they were still blowing at about 30 mph. The sea is now running about six foot swells, and we are not longer taking them head on. Those logs hitting the ship have stopped. Mike told me it was the ship pitching up and down on the waves that made that sound.
So now we rock side to side, ugh… excuse me…. My stomach isn’t so bad this morning, but the headache is still there. There were a couple lectures this morning. We decided to skip both and watch them later on the TV. I did attend the future cruise presentation, the offer of $250 shipboard credit drove me out of my sick bed and into the Constellation Theater. Nothing really new learned. Although he did point out that now the raise to cost of the cruise about every other month. So, booking early is a good idea, not just to get a cabin you might like, but for lower rates.
At 10 this morning there will be the AFC Championship game between the Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs. Voting for the Chiefs. Then at 1:30 there is the NFC Championship games between the Lions (boo) and the 49ers (yea). Mary will immerse herself in those.
The general belief is that smoking is bad for you, especially if you are sea sick. Doesn’t matter it has been four days without a cigar and it hasn’t gotten too much better. So, while Mary watches the games and makes sure there is no cheating going on I am headed to the cigar lounge. The smoking didn’t seem to make it worse. Perhaps maybe even a little more bearable.
I monitored the 49er game to see if it was ok to go back to the room. So, if you watched the game, you know I stayed in the cigar lounge until it was over. The 49ers won so it was possible to return to the room.
After the game we took time to dress for date night. I even went to the boutique and bought a new bow tie. All dressed up we went to dinner at Prime 7. The idea was go to to the show after dinner, but unfortunately, I just wasn’t up to it. The changing barometer caused an arthritic episode. So it was bed and a pain pill for me.
Tomorrow we will be at sea all day and arrive in Hawaii at 8 am on Wednesday. Hopefully more to report then.
Ciao, Enrico
