Travel Day
Torino – Milano, Italia
We spent the morning taking care of Amadea and Luisa. Pietro and Serra returned just after noon. We had arranged a car to take us to the Moxy Hotel near Linate Airport in Milano. Our flight to Reykjavik is at 9:20 tomorrow morning.
A car showed up, not the Mercedes Van we are contracted to have show up, but a Tesla Taxi. There was nothing we could do except take it to Milano. He got all the baggage in and we were off.
It was dark and raining when we got to Milano. There was some confusion about dropping us off at the hotel or the airport. It got straightened out and we were dropped at the hotel. We checked-in and dropped the bags. Then we walked over to the airport to check out where we need to be tomorrow. We had tried to check-in online but couldn’t, which is true for most international flights, so we wanted to check with the ticket counter.
Check-in is only 2 ½ hours before the flight. Although we purchased the tickets through Icelandic Airways, the first left of the journey is on ITA. ITA, or Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A. ITA used to be Alitalia, but Alitalia went bankrupt in 2020. Now, ITA is owned by the government of Italy and is the process of being sold to Lufthansa. So, the bottom line is we will have to come back tomorrow morning and check in about 6:30.
We stopped at McDonalds at the airport and had dinner, then walked back to the Moxy for the night. There we played cards in the lobby bar and relaxed before actually calling it a night.
Buonanotte e ciao, Enrico e Maria.
